Privacy Policy

Otloz is an app for planning events with friends and keeping track of shared expenses. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can get it removed. It applies to the Otloz Android app (com.otloz.app) and to otloz.com.

Who we are

Otloz is operated from Surat, Gujarat, India. For anything in this policy, write to otloz.com@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your phone number. Used to create your account and to verify it by one-time password. It is how other users find you.
Your profile. Name, and optionally city and a short bio, exactly as you enter them.
Contacts you choose to import. When you tap to invite people, and only after you grant contacts permission, we read the names and phone numbers in your address book so we can show which of your contacts already use Otloz. See the section below.
Events and circles. Event names, dates, places, guest lists, messages and any expenses you record.
Device push token. Only if you turn notifications on. Used to deliver alerts. Turning notifications off deletes it.
Basic diagnostics. Crash and error reports from Google Play, which help us fix faults.

About your contacts

We ask for contacts permission only when you choose to invite someone. We use the names and phone numbers to match against existing Otloz accounts and to send the invitations you ask us to send.

We do not sell your contacts, we do not use them for advertising, and we do not message anyone in your address book unless you specifically ask us to invite that person. You can refuse contacts permission and still use the app by adding people manually.

Why we collect it

To run the service you asked for: creating your account, showing your events, letting your friends find you, sending the invitations and notifications you request, and keeping the expense records you enter. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

Who we share it with

Other Otloz users — the people you invite see your name and the event details you share with them.
Google Firebase — hosting, database and push delivery.
MSG91 — sends your one-time password and WhatsApp or SMS invitations.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account we remove your profile, your circles and the events you created within 30 days. Expenses you shared with other people remain visible to those people, because that record is theirs as well as yours.

Deleting your account

In the app: Me → Delete account. Or email otloz.com@gmail.com from your registered number and we will remove it. Full details on our account deletion page.

Your choices

Turn notifications on or off in Me → Notifications.
Control who can add you in Me → Privacy.
Revoke contacts permission at any time in your phone's app settings.
Request a copy of your data, or a correction, by email.

Security

Data is stored with Google Firebase and transmitted over encrypted connections. Access rules restrict each record to the people entitled to see it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if we become aware of a breach involving their data.

Children

Otloz is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
